We’re giving away a Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker & Warmer NW-QAC10 (U$377.49) and a variety of rice from US Rice to celebrate National Rice Month in September!
A rice cooker is a must-have item in a Chinese kitchen, to automate the daily task of cooking rice and save you a bit of time to prepare some other dishes. I got to know Zojirushi while I was living in Japan 15 years ago, and I’ve been using a Zojirushi rice cooker in my kitchen ever since.
Today I’m partnering with Zojirushi and US Rice to give away a Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker & Warmer NW-QAC10 and a variety of rice to one lucky reader of Omnivore’s Cookbook!
My experience
I bought my first Zojirushi when I lived in Japan back in 2007 and have been using the brand ever since. I bought one for my mom after returning to China. And it was the first thing I purchased right after I moved to the US when I got married.
I’ve been using a Zojirushi NP-HBC10 (a slightly older model) for 8 years and it’s still going strong. It includes several functions including sushi rice, brown rice, porridge, and more. I use the brown rice function weekly to make my own blend of multi-wholegrain rice and it comes out perfectly every time. We also use the sushi rice function whenever we are having a small sushi party at home.
I highly recommend their rice cookers to anyone who loves cooking with rice and other grains.
About the Zojirushi Pressure Induction Heating Rice Cooker
Zojirushi has been perfecting rice cooking technology for the past five decades. Their new Induction Heating Rice Cooker uses the best technology for cooking rice. Induction Heating, which creates immediate high heat combined with the thinking component of the micro computer, allows for fine adjustments to be made during the cooking process.
The heating method known as Induction Heating (IH) occurs when a magnetic material is placed in a magnetic field. When the inner cooking pan (with a stainless steel inner layer) is placed into the rice cooker and the unit is turned on, an electromagnetic field is generated to create instant heat. Through this technology, the inner cooking pan itself becomes the heat source, utilizing both high heat and fine heating adjustments to better control the cooking process.
I love that no matter whatever grains I’m cooking with, I can choose the specific function and the rice comes out perfect every time.
USA Rice
For more than 30 years, September has been National Rice Month, a celebration of the U.S. rice industry. The U.S. rice industry is unique in its ability to produce all types of rice from short, medium, and long grain to aromatics and other specialty varieties. U.S.-grown rice is sodium-, cholesterol-, trans fat, and GMO-free. Rice is gluten-free and the least allergenic of all grains.
The major rice producing states in the US are California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas.
The U.S. rice industry produces 20 billion pounds of rice annually. 80% of all the rice we eat here in the U.S. is grown domestically. U.S.-grown rice is held to the highest growing, milling, and quality standards, and is sustainably grown across a network of family farms.
